MODERN HOUSE WITH A TRADITIONAL TOUCH


Whatever we are or wherever we go, it is a known fact that we love to get back to our roots. Maybe this is the drive behind modern home design, where the attempt is to merge the modern with the traditional. Modern architecture gives us more choices to adapt individual homes or apartment design to needs of modern lifestyles but with a touch of old world charm at certain points.
Take for example the houses in Kerala, where the slanted tile roof lends an aura of tradition whereas the design is absolutely modern with spacious interiors, cleaner lines, open plans and use of different materials like stone, wood and glass for wall claddings and interior decoration. Or take the use of Jarokhas for modern day partitions and décor and we see an apparent slant towards using traditional clues to enhance modern living.
